Converting MPEG VBR Streams to CBR
Many MPEG devices exist, such as some modulators, which are not able to accept VBR (Variable Bit Rate) transport streams. The usefulness of such devices becomes severely limited because of this restriction.
WooshCom's MPA-1212 Null Packet Filter can be used to solve this problem. In addition to being able to strip out incoming MPEG Null packets WooshCom's MPA-1212 also has the ability to pad up the output stream with Null packets in order to formulate a CBR (Constant Bit Rate) output stream of a specified data rate. It thereby acts as a VBR to CBR converter.
The VBR to CBR Conversion Diagram shows how any MPEG device which is restricted to receiving only CBR streams can be preceeded by WooshCom's MPA-1212 to enable it to accept VBR streams.
